Department SummaryStrategy, Planning, and Operations leads and
manages a large and complex portfolio of IT projects and programs
while establishing partnerships and stakeholder engagement efforts
with students, faculty, staff, and external partners on behalf of
the IT organization. The Strategy, Planning, and Operations Office
also manages organizational initiatives and efforts, including
general administrative functions, financial management and
budgeting, vendor management and licensing, billing, internal
communications, department human resources, talent management, and
culture development. The IT Financial Management team oversees
expenditures required to deliver IT products and services across
the university. The team administers a collaborative,
cross-functional approach to operational and capital
budgets/spending and the reduction of IT and business process
costs. The team leverages traditional enterprise financial and
accounting best practices, and serves as a centralized billing
function for all IT services.Position SummaryThe Director, IT
Financial Management will lead the financial strategy and
operations of the university's IT department. This senior role will
be responsible for the comprehensive financial management of the
department, ensuring alignment with the university's overall
business objectives and strategic goals.The Director will oversee
two teams: IT Financial Management and IT Procurement. This will
include managing the financial activities and procurement processes
to ensure seamless operations and optimal resource utilization. As
a key member of the IT leadership team, the Director will lead the
development and execution of robust financial strategies,
encompassing budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and
long-term financial planning. The Director will provide strategic
financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making
processes and enhance the financial performance of the IT
department. The Director will ensure accurate and timely financial
reporting, compliance with university policies, and adherence to
regulatory requirements. Additionally, the Director will identify
and implement cost-saving opportunities, optimize the use of
financial resources, and drive continuous improvement in financial
processes and systems. The Director, IT Financial Management will
positively impact UCLA's operations and culture by ensuring IT
financial resources are managed appropriately, and IT initiatives
are appropriately resourced in service of the institution's
academic mission. This team member will advance the University's
mission by delivering exceptional information technology services
comprehensively and consistently across faculty, staff, and

full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including
budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education,
licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.

- Seven years experience working in one or more of the following
fields: finance, accounting, budgeting, procurement/vendor
management, billing, public administration, business
administration, or a related field. (Required)
- Five years experience leading teams in a management or
leadership role, particularly in a fast-paced, service-oriented
environment, or a related field. (Required)
- Experience managing procurement processes, including vendor
selection, contract negotiation, and compliance. (Required)
- Experience managing cash flow and ensuring that organizations
have adequate liquidity to meet obligations. (Required)
- Demonstrated experience presenting complex technical
information to audiences of technical and non-technical
stakeholders. (Required)
- Advanced project management skills with demonstrated experience
delegating responsibility, tracking project progress, supervising
others, and advising teams on competing priorities. (Required)
- Significant experience working in a project-based environment
using leading project management practices including schedule
management, status reporting, and communication of project risks
and issues. (Required)
- Extensive experience solving technical and non-technical
problems; able to delegate solutioning when appropriate to the
proper resources. (Required)
- Experience operating as a point of escalation. (Required)
- Demonstrated experience providing inclusive leadership of
others, cultivating an inclusive environment that values equity,
diversity, inclusion and belonging. (Required)
- Has demonstrated experience leading in an ever-changing,
fast-paced environment. (Required)
- Ten or more years experience working in one or more of the
following fields: finance, accounting, budgeting,
procurement/vendor management, billing, public administration,
business administration. (Preferred)
- Six or more years experience leading teams in a management or
leadership role, particularly in a fast-paced, service-oriented
environment. (Preferred)
- Experience in complex higher education environments, serving
academic and administrative functions of a large public university.

- Advanced knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems,
including financial principles, budgeting, and financial reporting
within an IT context. (Required)
- Expert skills and in-depth knowledge of the principles and
practices of financial planning and analysis, budgetary systems,
and organizational management. (Required)
- Demonstrated understanding of office management practices,
including administrative support. (Required)
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills and is able to
communicate work assignments to medium-sized teams. (Required)
- Demonstrated leadership / management skills, including
abilities in persuasion, negotiation, change management, and
mentorship. (Required)
- Able to lead data gathering efforts seeking information from
multiple and diverse sources. (Required)
- Demonstrated understanding of how decisions affect teams.

- This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that
includes regular visits to campus as needed (for those who work
remotely, travel/lodging expenses are not eligible for
reimbursement).The anticipated pay range for this position is
$174,116.80 - $195,253.30, annually; salary is dependent upon the
skills and experience of the selected finalist.NOTE: This position
